Credo High School Earns Accreditation!

Credo High SchoolAt the January 2014 board meeting of the Accrediting Commission for Schools, the commission granted Credo High School full accreditation through June 30, 2017. This three-year term, recommended by a WASC staff member who visited Credo’s ninth, tenth and eleventh grades last September, is the maximum accreditation attainable by a new school. WASC will return to Credo for a one-day visit next fall to observe twelfth grade, which will be offered for the first time in the 2014-15 school year. The WASC report stated:

  • “The school has established a clear, coherent vision and mission of what students should know and perform; it is based on high-quality standards and is congruent with research, practices, and student achievement data.”
  • “Students have access to a rigorous, standards-based curriculum as well as opportunities to explore real-world applications of their educational interests”
  • “Innovative teaching methodologies are supported by research and professional development activities. These instructional strategies are used to encourage students to think, reason and problem-solve in group and individual activities, projects, debates, discussions and inquiries related to investigations. Credo students are highly engaged in the learning process and clearly demonstrate their joy at being a Credo student.”
  • “Every teacher observed was thoroughly engaged with all students, and the students, in turn, were completely focused on the lesson at hand.”

“We are thrilled but not surprised to have achieved the maximum level of accreditation,” said Thom Schaefer, Credo’s Education Director. “The WASC process was thorough, and helpful, as we continue to build our school.”
